POACHING? OH NO! Have no fear! The Protection Teams are here!

Wildlife Protection Teams come to the rescue of orangutans.

The Leuser ecosystem is the largest block of forested area on the beautiful island of Sumatra.

It spans over the provinces of Aceh and North Sumatra and covers 6.5 million acres.

As one of the most biodiverse ecosystems in Southeast Asia, it is now the only ecosystem to contain all iconic species of Sumatran orangutan, rhino, tiger and elephant. All these species are classified as critically endangered and face imminent extinction unless immediate action is taken!

Despite being nationally protected, the Leuser ecosystem is under extreme threat from numerous destructive projects including encroachment, land clearing for palm oil plantations and poaching.

This means orangutans are fleeing their homes from the destruction and, if they survive, the remaining survivors are captured and kept illegally as pets in appaling conditions- leashed, starved and abandoned. This is no life for our brothers and sisters.

Have no fear! The Protection Teams are here!

Protection teams in the Leuser ecosystem are on the front line of field protection which is critical in fighting the ever present threats to forest and wildlife. Protection teams coordinate with local law enforcement authorities to increase interception rate and case follow up.

A government forest police officer is in every Wildlife Protection Team and special law enforcement operations have been increased. Cutting edge equipment in the form of satellite phones, infrared conservation drones and radios have increased the effectiveness of protection and provide further safety for the Wildlife Protection teams. We need to keep this ongoing and effective.

We need to provide the Wildlife Protection Teams with equipment (tents, tarpaulin, GPS to track wildlife etc.) so that they can continue protecting the Leuser ecosytem.

Please help us raise $50,000 so that we can keep the Anti-Poaching Campaign running for another 5 years!
